scared to insult the hierarchy moderator gaa is all about tradition if im aware no one has been killed nor will be

Not a bit of it, but that argument that "because nobody has been killed, then no-one will" is the most idiotic of them all. Just look at the video of Kieran McGeeney pleading with the Armagh fans to move back when he was being presented with Sam Maguire in 2003. The fans at the front were being crushed and it was a miracle that no-one was killed that day. The fact of the matter is that disasters do happen no matter how much you and others with their heads in the clouds want to pretend that they wont. If this madness was to continue then it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt or injured. That's not our opinion. It is the opinion of experts and clearly you aren't one of them.

Was at the All Ireland Hurling final on Sunday, great game, however the event was marred by the caging in of the fans,The GAA is owned by the people for the people ,it is not a PLC or owned by some rich Russian?.
I will be lobying my club to forward a motion to next county convention to over turn this soccer tactic and i urge other Gaels to do like wise.

GRMA

And this negligent and entirely irresponsible suggestion will be ruled out of order before it even gets near any convention. You simply fail to understand that this is not voluntary - it is mandatory so forget about all your pleuralistic "by the people for the people" nonsense. The GAA has a responsibility to its members and no amount of romantic, traditional rubbish will change that.

reading in the irish news this morning and i have to totally agree with paddy heaney in that the tipp supporters were denied the moment that there county may never achieve again in beating the unbeatable cats!! what an anti climax if these money men and privateers are given free reign over the gaa i fear the passion that embodies the gaa will begin to deminish!!! There is no pruder moment in a gaa supportes life that breaking out into croke after there county has won gathering around the hogan in celebration!!! its one of the gaa's most poigniant aspects how 15 average men cangain hero status, this is there moment let them share this with the supporters... I understand the health and safety aspect of this surley the gaa can alow fans onto the field in a controled manner io also see the problems involved in this but that plaxiglass behindthe goals makes it look like the gaa fans are hooligans
i find it crazy health and safety is destroyin the country its crazy now the gaa has been infected!!! Lets the fans on to the field truth be told if down win sunday no amount of security will hold them back that will cause more injury than letting the fans onto the field!!! take a loomk at urselves its that passion that makes the gaa what it is Come on christy u have to see this let the fans on to croke

If you really "understand" the health and safety reasons behind this, then you automatically negate everything else you have said. Romanticism, tradition etc etc are all quoted as valid reasons to let people onto the pitch. No amount of romanticism, tradition etc would ever compensate for someone getting serioulsy injured or worse. This rubbish that "it has never happened before" so why should it happen now is the stuff of reckless fantasy. Nobody ever flew an airplane into the World Trade Centres before 9/11, yet it happened twice. The suggestion that it is "tradition" ignores the increased capacity of the stadium and all the other relevant factors and is no reason to allow it to continue. We know only too well about "tradition" and all the problems with it in this part of the world. And don't repeat this complete rubbish that it has something to do with "money men and privateers". That is simply an attempt to distract from the real reason for this and borders on negligence. The welfare of the supporters and players is paramount. It is dictated to be health and safety legistlation. It cannot be ignored. Neither Paddy Heaney nor you would have to answer to anyone should something go wrong and hopefully no-one else will. Times have changed, the law has changed. People's rights to attend a sporting event wihtout putting their welfare at risk is absolute. Whether you like it or not, that's the way it is and that's the way it has to be.

To Camogie PRO - Can you advise if the children's tickets at 5 Euro will allow them to gain access to the same seating area as the adults? e.g. If I have a seat in the Lower Hogan Stand can my two children have seats beside me at 5 Euro each?

No, the family tickets will be for desiganted areas only.

Stop thinking about yourself and help develop your club, too many people are taking the easy option of joining a 'better' club!

That's for soccer, not the GAA

i was just wandering if its legal for me to transfer. Im still a minor and i believe my football and hurling will not improve at my current club and i think that staying at my club will decrease my chances of making the antrim minor squads.

Not for those reasons can you transfer.

My son has had a very enjoyable year with the Antrim Under 15 hurling development squad. The training sessions, challenge games, and the Wexford week-end were all very well organised. I think the County and especially the coaches deserve a big thank you for all their efforts. Well done.

We will try and get the Saffron Og going again now in the new school term. The problem before was in obtaining content for this, from schools, clubs etc.
Anyone with any relevant articles, be it from a young member about a great GAA experience, or a day in Croke Park etc, please forward (with pictures if available) to saffron-og@antrimgaa.net

We also welcome profiles from Schools. A template for a school profile can be downloaded below.
Download School In Focus Template

Clubs are also welcomed to forward pictures from any event they find relevant, e.g. Cul Camps or Saffron Og Camps.

The more people that provide us with content, the greater success it will be!

Our kids like to use the Saffron Og section of the website. Unfortunately the last issue of the Safron Og on line magazine was December 2009! Can you please bring this to someone's attention. Previously there was an issue on a monthly or bimonthly basis. We feel it is very important to promote the culture of the GAA to younger children as they are the future of the GAA. I would like to say thanks to the people involved for the previous issues!!
