Portglenone - Roger Casements
SENIOR FOOTBALL
The season opened on a promising note as the Div 1 team proceeded to progress through the group stage of the Ulster League unbeaten, having played all their games way from home. A frosty day in the quarter final at Gortin ended the travels to foreign shores, but the experiment was successful in terms of meaningful pre-season games, fitness and experience gained by our younger players. Progress was made to the final of the O Cathain Cup where we fell heavily to Cargin in Dunloy. The Div 1 ACL turned out to be a game of two halves where Casements won seven of the first nine league games but lost seven of the remaining eight games. The pivotal point in between was a morale sapping defeat to St Galls in the preliminary round of the championship in early August which meant only one competitive fixture between then and the 4th October. Nonetheless, the situation afforded the opportunity for the club to return to the Kilmacud Sevens where they finished a close second in their qualifying group.

The newly promoted Div 4 team lived up to expectation, enjoying their first tilt at this level and finishing a creditable fourth in the league with four games outstanding. Continued improvement will make for an interesting conclusion in next year's league.
Congratulations to our Senior and U21 players who represented the club at County level this year – Tony Convery, Martin McCarry, Mark Graham, Gerard McAleese and Niall McKeever.

UNDER AGE
After a very successful season last year for Sean Stinsons, ( the club joins with neighbours St Marys, Ahoghill for juvenile games) it was always going to be difficult to follow. However the minors made it to the semi-final of the championship and the U12s just missed out on four in a row U12 SW titles when they were beaten in the final by St Endas. The highlight of the juvenile year was the success of the Og Sport team, who after annexing the SW and All County titles, represented Antrim in the Ulster competition where they won the Plate competition defeating Bundoran in the semifinal and Castleblayney in the final. The club was privileged with the prescence of All Stars Sean Cavanagh and Jane Adams at the Juvenile Presentation Night. Congratulations are due to Mark McAleese who represented the club at county minor level.

OFF THE FIELD
Fundraising activities continued in support of the club and furthering the opportunity of provision of a much needed additional playing surface. Thanks to the Finance Committee backboned by Sean and Ciaran Doherty, and Treasurer Veronica Kelly, a couple of novel events were arranged in addition to the old " hardy annuals”. One consisted of an in-house "X Mas Factor” where club members enthusiastically provided the entertainment very professionally to a captivated audience. So successful was the function, that it is being repeated again on Saturday 27th December this year. Another successful novel night out was the Casino Night which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
