Dreams Can Come True

Dreams Can and Sometimes Do Come True

All you young people, who dreamed and wanted your County, our County, to be the one that everyone wanted to talk about, have had your wish come true. Who could have foreseen or would have believed that in the space of six only months 'we' could come from Division 4 to reach the Semi Final of the Ulster Championship? I say 'we' because you, young Gaels, are a vital part of the Antrim family of Gaels. You are the seed corn for tomorrow’s world; you are our future and will, in your turn, have your opportunity to wear the Saffron Jersey with honour and pride.

What these lads have done, under inspired leadership, for Antrim football is a measure of achievement that you are unlikely to witness again, in the space of one lifetime. This really has been a dream come true and there is always a reason ; even many reasons as to why this should happen. Here are some of them.

  1. They have in abundance both ambition and drive - these lads wanted to succeed and so they did.
  2. They have genuine enthusiasm and the wisdom to ignore the negative thoughts and jibes of those who invariably fail.
  3. They have commitment and readily accept that there is always a price to be paid for the attainment of success.
  4. They have clear focus, know what they want early and will always work towards achieving their chosen objective.
  5. Some invariably have outstanding natural talent, whilst others are dedicated, work harder but both can and do succeed.
  6.  Lastly, for now at least, they are not responsible for previous failings or perceptions of lowly status but on the contrary they are prepared to work for positive change; others now acknowledge they just achieved this in spades.
