Antrim GAA Visit the Official Club Aontroma Website
As Gaeilge - Meán Fómhair; 2007

Bhuel, dia daoibh a chairde! Tá súil agam gur bhain sibh sult as na laethanta saoire! (I hope you all enjoyed your summer holidays!)

Finn the Saffron Óg Football mascot We have another issue of the Saffron Óg again for this school year, and I all hope you enjoy this page in Gaeilge, and that you can pick up a few phrases here and there!

Cad é a rinne sibh don samhradh? Ar thug tú cuairt ar áit ar bith deas? (What did you do over the summer holidays? Did you visit any interesting places?) An raibh sibh thar lear? (Did you go abroad for your holidays?) Chuaigh mé (I did) Ní dheachaigh mé, d’fhán mé sa bhaile (I didn’t, I stayed at home)

I suppose you had lots and lots of cluichí peile, iomána or camógaíochta to enjoy over the summer with your cairde (friends)!

Did you watch any matches sa samhradh? Bhí Cill Chainnigh ar fheabhas sa chluiche ceannais! (Kilkenny were brillant in the All-Ireland Final) Can you remember who they played?

Or what about the cluiche ceannais sa pheil (football)? Just like Kilkenny, Ciarraí were ar dóigh! (Ciarraí were brilliant as well!) Corcaigh bocht! (Poor Cork)

I’m sure everyone is happy though that you are all back ar scoil (to school). You can get to talk to all your cairde (friends) again, and even talk to your múinteoir (teacher)!

Well I hope you enjoyed the first page as Gaeilge (in Irish) of the Saffron Óg, until next month! Beir bua! (Good luck)
